PPK pension plans can be managed by insurers

PPK pension plans can be managed by insurers

Dodano: 2018-04-03

Piotr Nowak deputy minister of finance during the interview with the Polish Press Agency said that Polish life insurance companies can take part in planning retirement reform.

„For the sake of retiree savings’ safety, it is hard to consent to it. It is true that in Poland there have been no bankruptcies of insurance companies, their assets are managed in a conservative way, and supervision acts properly. Nonetheless, we would not like pension savings to be burdened by any insurance-related risk. If insurance companies find a legal solution which enables avoiding [the risk], we will be able to discuss the proposal.”, said Piotr Nowak.

He also confirmed that the ministry does not plan the change of PPK pension funds data implementation as of 1 January 2019. “We want future pension beneficiaries to start building their additional savings as soon as possible. At the same time, we would like to reach as broad a consensus around the draft bill as possible, so if a longer discussion was needed, and for instance PFR would need more time to prepare the IT systems, it might turn out necessary to consider a longer vacatio legis for some solutions.”, Nowak explained.
