Poland’s private pension funds OFE transferred PLN 716.5 mln to the social insurance board ZUS (the Polish Social Insurance Institution) under a preretirement asset shift in March. In February OFE received PLN 275.1 mln in premiums from ZUS.
OFE pension savers within ten years of retirement have their assets systemically transferred from their pension fund to ZUS on a monthly basis. ZUS will handle eventual benefits payments.
OFE funds still receive a portion of the monthly social security premiums from those workers who opted to remain in the OFE pension fund system.
