In 2017 foreign drivers caused 14.6k car accidents in Poland. This is 3% of all accidents which happened in Poland last year.
The number of car accidents caused by foreign drivers is at the same level as the year before, when it was 14.7k.
“Foreign drivers cause significant damage on Polish roads. The average compensation of these accidents amounted to PLN 7.6m in 2017. On the whole injured people in these accidents get PLN 110m compensation” said Mariusz Wichtowski, the president of the Polish Motors Insurers’ Bureau.
28% of car accidents were caused by drivers from Germany. Less damage was caused by drivers from:
- Lithuania (10%),
- the Czech Republic (8.2%)
- Belarus (6.7%)
- Ukraine (6.6%)
