The Report is the result of almost two years of work of the European Commission Expert Group on European Insurance Contract Law, set up by the EC on 17 January 2013. The task of the Group was to carry out an analysis in order to assist the EC in examining whether differences in contract laws pose an obstacle to cross-border trade in insurance products. Therefore, this Report examines the impact of differences between national contract laws on cross-border insurance business under the freedom to provide services and the freedom of establishment.
