Poland’s largest insurer PZU plans to lay off 956 staff as part of a major restructuring programme.
The Management Board of Powszechny Zakład Ubezpieczeń Spółka Akcyjna (PZU) announced that it took a decision on 9 March 2017 to continue the headcount restructuring process in PZU. The same decision was taken in PZU’s subsidiary – Powszechny Zakład Ubezpieczeń na Życie Spółka Akcyjna (PZU Życie) on 9 March 2017.
The PZU Management Board reported that employment restructuring in PZU and PZU Życie is slated to take place in the period from 24 March to 18 December 2017. Restructuring is to cover up to 1944 persons; it is estimated that up to 956 PZU and PZU Życie employees from different occupational groups will be laid off.
The final number of employees affected by restructuring and the related costs and savings will be known after PZU and PZU Życie complete the process of consultation with the trade unions.
Bartłomiej Litwińczuk, PZU board member said that the changes are in line with the restructuring strategy adopted by the company for 2016-2020.
