Poland wants to set up a system of compensation for individuals who bought bonds issued or sold with a breach of law, according to the government legislative agenda.
Investors qualify if they were misled by the seller or offered a product that was not tailored to their needs or their awareness of risk connected with such an investment. Upon launch of restructuring or bankruptcy, such individual investors will be entitled to 25% of their loss (ex premium/discount & interest) to a max of PLN 100k. The Fund will be financed from administrative fines by the financial market watchdog KNF, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection or court fines.
