until 2015 at 3 J. Dunajewskiego Street in Cracow there was the only Insurance Museum in the world. Established in 1987, the institution presented over two hundred years of history of the existence and operation of Polish insurance companies.
The museum collections consisted of over 36 000 exhibits. These were documents, insurance policies, stamps, plates, photos, publications, albums, personal souvenirs, as well as work tools: a set for cattle tagging, earth measuring instruments or company treasury.
The museum was located in the Krakow branch of PZU. It was established on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of Polish insurance by a group of branch employees, with Marian Hampel, the head of the organizational department. At the opening of the museum the exhibition completed 400 exhibits, but soon another 800 were donated by the people of Kraków.
