PZU will provide another 200 so-called life bands to hospitals that treat patients with COVID-19. The first such devices were delivered to institutions in May. The life band is an innovative solution on a global scale that analyses the key vital parameters of patients and alerts medical staff in the event of a life threatening situation.
The Life Band is a certified medical device that remotely analyses the key vital parameters of the patient. It measures the pulse, body temperature and oxygen saturation in the blood. When they drop to critical values, the armband activates an audible signal and immediately alerts medical personnel on a special monitoring monitor. The devices passed the first exam as part of a pilot project implemented by PZU in cooperation with the Ministry of Health since last autumn at the Mazowieckie Provincial Hospital in Siedlce.
Life wristbands will now go to ten hospitals in southern and western Poland – incl. to branches in Wroclaw, Szczecin, Gorzow Wielkopolski, Poznan, Starachowice or Raciborz.
The total value of PZU’s financial aid for hospitals and services fighting the epidemic amounts to PLN 15 million. Hospitals received, among others respirators, bronchoscopes for examination of the trachea and bronchi, and cardiomonitors. The medical services were also supported by 200 cars from PZU, which for transporting test samples from people in home quarantine.
